How much do managed IT services cost?
The price depends on how many people and devices you have and what the plan covers. Here is how providers price it and what to check before you sign.

How much do managed IT services cost?
Managed IT is usually a monthly fee based on the number of users or devices you have, plus what the plan includes. Servers, compliance requirements, after-hours coverage and the cleanup needed at the start all move the number up or down, so two businesses the same size can get very different quotes.
The only accurate price is one built from your actual setup. TechCore reviews your users, devices, network and accounts in a free assessment, then sends a written quote so you know the monthly cost and what it covers before you commit.

How managed IT providers price their services
| Model | How it works | Works well when |
|---|---|---|
| Per user | A monthly amount for each person, covering their computer, phone, email and support | Most staff have a computer and their own accounts |
| Per device | A monthly amount for each computer, server and network device you have | You have shared computers or more devices than people |
| Flat tiers | Bundled plans such as basic, standard and full coverage at set levels of service | You want a simple choice and a clear list of what is in each level |
| Project work | A one-time quote for a defined job like a server replacement, office move or new network | The work has a clear start and finish |
| Monthly plan vs. projects | Most providers pair a monthly plan for ongoing support with separate quotes for larger projects | You want steady support plus planned upgrades |
What drives the cost up or down
Every provider weighs these a little differently, but the same factors show up in almost every quote.
- Number of users and devices to support
- Servers, on-site or in the cloud, and the apps running on them
- Compliance needs that call for extra security settings, logging or documentation
- After-hours or weekend coverage instead of business hours only
- Onboarding cleanup for undocumented, aging or unpatched systems
- How many locations need on-site visits
- What is included in the plan and what is billed as extra
Hidden fees to watch for
A low monthly number can turn into a high yearly bill if the plan leaves out work you will need. Read the agreement for these before you sign.
- Onboarding or setup fees that are not in the first quote
- On-site visits billed hourly on top of the monthly plan
- After-hours and emergency work at a higher rate
- Security tools, backup storage or licenses priced separately
- Projects like new computers or moves quoted at a premium
- Long contracts with cancellation fees or no clear exit
Questions to ask before you sign
Ask every provider the same questions so you can compare quotes fairly.
- What exactly is included in the monthly price, and what is not?
- Is support unlimited, or is there a cap on hours or tickets?
- Are on-site visits included, and in which areas?
- How are new users, new devices and projects priced?
- Who owns the documentation and passwords if we leave?
- How long is the agreement, and how do we end it?
Common questions
Why won't TechCore publish a price list?
Because a price that ignores your setup is a guess. The number of users and devices, servers, coverage hours and the state of your systems all change the cost, so we quote after a free assessment.
Is per user or per device pricing better?
Per user is usually simpler when each person has their own computer and accounts. Per device can fit better when you have shared computers or a lot of equipment and fewer people.
Why do onboarding costs vary so much?
Onboarding covers documenting your setup and fixing what is already broken or out of date. A well-kept network takes less work to take over than one with old equipment, missing updates and unknown passwords.
Is managed IT cheaper than break-fix?
Break-fix can cost less in a quiet year and much more in a bad one. Our managed IT vs. break-fix guide compares the two in detail.
What do I get after the assessment?
A written quote that lists what the plan covers, what is billed separately and what we would fix first.

I am a manager for 4 locations of Express Employment Professionals and we've recently used TechCore for our phone service. Our installation was easy and fast! Jamie and Alex took extra care to make sure all of our needs were met in each office, they had everything installed and running on the same day and Alex has been incredibly helpful for any changes we've needed with staff changes. I would highly recommend TechCore's phone and networking service.
